Here are the top five stories today in Lakewood:
- Don’t leave your doggie in the car. A car was stolen in downtown Denver along with a dog that was inside of the vehicle, but later the same day, both the car and the dog were found in Lakewood. This is the second Denver metro auto theft where a dog was in a car that was stolen in as many months. (KAKE)
- Latina Businesswoman fueling economy, inspiring entrepreneurs. On International Women’s Day, the contributions of women in society are celebrated. In Metro Denver, that celebration included a luncheon and discussion hosted by World Denver. The topic was Women Leading in Global Sustainability. (CBS4)
- Denver homeowners facing foreclosures. 60 families may lose their homes after the homeowners associations and a metro district started the foreclosure process against them. Some owners said they had no idea they were going to be forced from their homes. (FOX31)
- Gas stove supporters aren’t as grass roots as you’d think. Coloradans for Energy Access is presented as a citizen-led coalition to preserve access to gas stoves and water heaters. Turns out the levers are being turned by a natural gas utility and a strategic communications firm. (CPR)
- Development forces Denver’s oldest continuously operated bike shop to close its doors. After 50 years in business, Turin Bike Shop’s owner, Alan Fine, is retiring. Part of the reason the shop is closing is because rent in the Golden Triangle is no longer affordable for a small businesses. (Denverite)
