Here are the top three stories today in Colorado Springs:

  1. Colorado Springs Police report that the two overnight shootings on Sunday were connected. Police reported to the 5200 block of Galena Drive and to an apartment complex on Rebecca Lane. No injuries were reported at the first shooting on Galena Drive but a woman was shot in the chest multiple times at the apartment complex on Rebecca Lane. The woman is expected to survive and is recovering at a local hospital. (KKTV 11 News)
  2. Pikes Peak Library District will continue to distribute masks after being restocked. The distribution will include 42,000 N95 masks and 12,000 surgical-grade masks in an effort to slow COVID-19 infection rates. There is a limit of five masks per person with supplies being available at all open library locations including mobile. (FOX21News.com)
  3. The City of Colorado Springs has named twelve individuals to the Wildfire Mitigation Advisory Committee. The new committee held its first meeting on Feb. 4 and plans to allocate funds towards the Colorado Springs Fire Department in its efforts to fight and prevent wildfires. The city was able to form the committee after Ballot Issue 2D was passed which allocated $20 million to create the wildfire mitigation and prevention program managed by the Colorado Springs Fire Department.
