Best Style Moments At Milan Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2022

In the last week of February, Italy became the epicenter of fashion as luxury brands and designers predict the future of dressing with Milan Fashion Week (MFW) fall-winter 2022. As expected, the giant players in the major fashion capital present how art meets style through a series of runway shows. From fairy tale-like showcases to tributes to women and Ukraine, here are some of the best collections showcased at MFW.

Fendi

A play on contrasts is what Kim Jones’ Fendi fall-winter 2022 show is all about. A mix of romance and seduction, sheer and illusion, soft and structure are depicted through slip dresses, see-through pants, and jackets both tailored and textured, all in a muted palette. Jones’ latest works for the luxury brand pays homage to Karl Lagerfeld and the brand’s family history, ultimately creating a collection that “challenges notions of power, blurring and reshaping boundaries.”

Giorgio Armani

There’s silence in Giorgio Armani’s MFW 2022 show, and it’s intentional. Doing the show without music is the 87-year-old designer’s way of showing respect as tragedy unfolds in Ukraine. While there’s nothing to hear, the designs alone create louder statements. Much like a clear night sky, crystal-encrusted gowns glimmer on the runway. And his tailored pieces in velvet are like aurora borealis under the silvery lights.

Prada

Co-creative directors Raf Simons and Miuccia Prada dedicate Prada’s latest collection to the muses and the history of women. To showcase just that, supermodels Kendall Jenner, Kaia Gerber, Anok Yai, Chu Wong, among others, are present on the runway show dubbed “An Ideology of Prada,” wearing the brand’s latest interpretation of trench coats, puffer jackets, panel skirts, and loose blazers.

Moschino

Like a page out of “Beauty and the Beast,” furniture comes to life in fashion designer Jeremy Scott’s collection for Moschino. Think of a grandpa clock as a dress, dinnerware as embellishment, a Lazy Susan as a suit ensemble, and other home furnishing turned into clothing because those are the things that make his runway show totally surreal.

Gucci

Alessandro Michele’s works for Gucci have been known for their unorthodox styling mixed with vintage, nerdy, and kitschy aesthetics. That continues with his homecoming collection for MFW titled “Exquisite Gucci.” “Juxtaposing worlds and meanings. Altering the stability of perception. Manipulating and magnifying the existing. Power shoulders, cinched waists, and all things sleek and sexy dominate Donatella Versace’s fall 2022 ready-to-wear collection. Her monochromatic designs with latex hugging pieces are invitations to our nights in the clubs while her use of houndstooth and plaid prints and oversized suits are nods to the ‘90s and ‘00s style.
