Charles Roger MacLellan (CR), 74, of Idaho Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with kidney disease. CR was born on August 3, 1947 to Charles Richard (Dick) and Norma R. MacLellan (nee Younger) in Baltimore, Maryland. He spent much of his life in the Baltimore area working as a graphic designer, but his passion was painting; both in watercolors and oils. This passion brought him to Colorado where he lived happily during his later years chasing his dreams. In addition to painting, he was an avid fisherman, musician, storyteller and reader. He was known to many as a great friend. CR married his high school sweetheart Elizabeth (Betsy) MacLellan (nee Cree) in 1968 and they went on to have 3 children, Raun, Ian and Emily. Although life took them on different paths, they remained close friends. CR was predeceased by his parents, his sister Sarah and granddaughter Faith. He is survived by his children Raun Elizabeth MacLellan, Matthew Ian (Nichole MacLellan (nee Randle)), Emily Barnette (Jason); his grandchildren Jake Barnette, Lindsay Noelle McWilliams, Evan and Tanner Barnette, Cole and Abigail MacLellan. He is also survived by his sister Barbara MacLellan (Gene Ricks) and brothers H. Bradford and J. Andrew MacLellan; as well as his aunt, cousin and numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Let’s not forget his cherished furry friend Señorita Swats. A celebration of life will be held in private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of his favored organizations: Baltimore Museum of Art (BMA); Project Support Senior Center, Idaho Springs, CO.; or Trout Unlimited.
