The Royal Arch hike in Boulder is stunning. It’s also very crowded on weekends and at the top, there are several points to take in the 360 views of the Boulder area and beyond. I took my boy up there recently and absolutely stunning.

Climbing the rocks and checking out the views is a wonderful reward for a job well done getting to the top but it can be dangerous for us hikers with two legs and possibly even more so for our hikers with 4 paws.
A scary incident took place over the weekend at the summit of the Royal Arch trail in Boulder when a dog fell over 100 feet but thankfully, has lived to tell his tale to other furry four legged pals.
Rescuers responded to the incident on Sunday afternoon and found the dog who thankfully only sustained a broken leg. The rescue took almost three hours but thankfully, the dog is expected to be ok.
Big shout out to the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group and the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks.
The owner, who is from Lafayette was also taken in for observation but both are expected to be fine.
The dog reportedly was off leash and started chasing a squirrel when it fell off the cliff…thankfully this story ended happily with the dog only suffering a broken leg.
I can tell you from my experience on this trail just a couple of months ago, I witnessed a lot of dogs who were not leashed and just running freely.
It’s so important to keep them leashed up at all times for their safety and the safety of others and other dogs.
While dogs are awesome, not everyone on the trail may think so and the most important factor is that leash laws are in effect for a reason.
