The city of Loveland has contracted a search firm to find a new library director, a task that the city expects to be completed in early summer.
Bradbury Miller Associates, an Ohio-based search firm that specializes in placing library directors, was confirmed to be the company that will aid Loveland in replacing Diane Lapierre, the previous director who accepted a position as director of the Poudre River Public Library District in Fort Collins late last year.
The search firm will help the city determine qualifications and seek out applicants nationally, according to Rod Wensing, Loveland’s deputy city manager, whose office oversees the library district.
Lapierre’s last day in the Loveland library was Jan. 3, according to Wensing. She said in November that, once established at the Poudre River Public Library District, she would look for ways to collaborate with the Loveland Public Library.
Bradbury Miller Associates has worked for library districts across the country, according to their website, including a variety across Colorado. The Boulder Public Library, Denver Public Library and Jefferson County Public Library districts have all worked with them before, as have the Poudre River Public Library District in Fort Collins and the High Plains Library District in Greeley. Library systems in Aurora, Colorado Springs and Grand Junction have also used their services, according to their website.
Prior to her work in Loveland, which began in 2017, Lapierre served from 2006 to 2017 at the Denver Public Library as director of community relations and director of Denver Public Library Friends Foundation. She also served as the director of strategic initiatives in the City Librarian’s Office in Denver from 2004 to 2006.
Currently, the library is under the supervision of interim director Amber Green, a role that will be shared with adult services director Amy Phillips until a permanent director is identified, according to Wensing.
