TEMPE, Ariz. – The opening weekend for Colorado State women’s tennis produced a split, as the Rams were swept by Arizona State on Saturday at the Whiteman Tennis Center.
The Sun Devils won the doubles point, then secured three singles matches to solidify the team win, leaving three singles matches on the court still in progress. Arizona State had a second match later in the day, so the teams did not play everything to completion.
The Rams lone win came in doubles play, as the pairing of Tracy Guo and Lucia Natal posted a 6-2 victory in the third spot, leaving them 2-0 for the weekend, 4-0 on the year. Natal (No. 4), Sarka Richterova (No. 1) and Radka Buzkova (No. 3) were all on the court when the match was ended.
Now 1-1 on the year, Colorado State will have two weeks of practice before hosting its first home match of the season, Saturday, Feb. 5 against Metro State (2 p.m.) at the Fort Collins Country Club.
