ONE of the suspects in the Nome Park shooting has been charged with attempted murder, authorities say.
More details have been revealed about the November 15, 2021 shooting where six students were shot during lunch, according to the arrest affidavit.
Daniel Ruelas, 16, is facing 23 charges including 16 counts of attempted first-degree murder for the shooting. The teen is being charged as an adult.
Ruelas is also facing three counts of first-degree assault, one count of possession of a handgun by a juvenile and sentence enhancers.
Four people have been arrested in connection to the shooting, all of them teenagers. Another 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds were also arrested.

Witness Henry Martinez, who resides across the street from Nome Park, revealed to CB4 Denver he heard something that sounded like “30 to 50” gunshots.
He told the news outlet: “It’s sad to see young people just throwing their lives away for nothing.
“I’m sad about that… heard like 30-50 shots, it was hard to count with them coming so fast like that, but at least 30”
A cemetery employee told Fox 31 that he took cover behind stone tombs after hearing “a lot of gunshots” being fired.
“A lot of gunshots, a lot of kids running, vehicles taking off. Rounds started coming into the cemetery, and that’s when we decided to kind of take cover behind some of the stones.”
According to the outlet, the shooting was the latest act of violence at the park, where authorities have responded to three aggravated assaults this year, including a gun-related incident.
Nome Park was the location of a gang-related shooting in 2019, in which a teenager was charged with attempted first-degree murder, per the outlet.
Witnesses told police they saw the suspects pull up in a black sedan near the park and start shooting. There were multiple people in the car and they were wearing masks.
A female student who was shot believed the shooting might have happened after a fight between some students the week before, according to the affidavit.
